Army Sgt Carl Visit to WJS
Today, Mr Farrell invited in his friend and army sergeant Carl to talk to the children about his life journey and career. He was formally a footballer and has progressed against much adversity to become an army sergeant. Our Headteacher (Mr Haltof) also discussed his personal and professional journey in becoming a Headteacher.
Both Mr Haltof and Carl have had to use a range of resilience characteristics to achieve their roles of army sergeant and Headteacher. Words and advice such as being able to sacrifice things in order to progress were discussed. Believing in yourself and having the confidence to keep going was also discussed with the children. Finally, one of the key messages that was translated to the children was to always work hard, regardless of how much talent you may have.
We now hope that the children take on board this advice from our speakers today, as well as the information and inspiration that Christian Fuchs presented recently.
Thank you Mr Haltof and Carl,
