It’s been such a busy term so far we are wondering where the time has gone! Today is only one month away from the official start of spring – isn’t that a great fact to cheer you up?? This week we have had two trips out for years 3 and 5 plus a football match which we won!
YEAR 3 TRIP/YEAR 5 TRIP
On Wednesday, two year group were out of school on trips – Year 3 to the Sea Life Centre in Birmingham and Year 5 to the Natural History Museum in Tring.
I was lucky enough to be able to accompany the Year 5 trip (it was great to get out of the office for a day). I have to say that the children did us proud both as parents/carers and as a school. The staff at the museum were very complimentary about our pupils and could not believe that we had nearly 90 children with us! A couple of members of the public spoke to me and asked where we were from and said they were impressed by the enthusiasm and good manners of our pupil – so proud!! Thank you to all the parents/grandparents who came with us to Tring - Mrs Chattaway, Mrs Green, Mr Western and Damian’s gran. Much appreciated.
Year 3 staff also had a great day with brilliant behaviour evident through the day. Everyone arrived back in school tired but happy. Thank you to Mrs Berry and also Mrs Adam’s mum, who went to the Sea Life Centre with Year 3.
Last week our Gymnastics Team qualified for the level 2 competition – we were only 0.5 points behind the leaders – Battling Brook Academy. If we get through the next competition we will be competing at County Level. Brilliant news!
On Wednesday, after school our girls’ football team played their first match against Stafford Leys Primary here at our school. It was bitterly cold and a tense match. The score was 1-0 to Westfield Junior School with the winning goal scored by Amber Short in Year 6 – well done to our successful team! Thank you to Mr Woodward, Mr Farrell, Mrs Knowles and Mr Lambert as well as parents/carers for braving the cold and attending the match.
Tomorrow, Westfield pupils are joining hundreds of pupils for dozens of schools from the surrounding area to run in cross country races at Market Bosworth College in Desford. The start time is 9:45. Good luck to all runners...
We are open for business today in the gym – please join us after school for coffee/tea and cake or take cakes home to eat with the family.
Best wishes, Margaret Greig
