Dear Parents/Carers,
SWIMMING GALA
Last Saturday afternoon Westfield Junior School pupils competed in the Hinckley and Bosworth Swimming Gala. Mr Farrell, Mr Woodward and Mrs Worthington who all attended, said that out of the 16 schools taking part, the Westfield Swimming Team achieved fourth place (just missing third place). This is a huge achievement for us and we are really proud of our pupils.
YEAR 5 DARWIN EXHIBITION
This week our Year 5 pupils held a Darwin exhibition showing all the wonderful, creative items they had made as part of their homework projects. It was fantastic to see everyone’s hard work and visitors to the exhibition, including school Governors, thought that the standard of exhibits was high. Well done to Year 5!
PTA CINEMA FILM NIGHT
The PTA organised a film night this week on Wednesday – 120 children watched Paddington 2 and had a snack box. This was a trial run to see if it would be successful and it was! So, we will be doing it again early in the summer term. Letters will be coming home to let you know. Thank you to Mrs Elwell, Mrs Wright, Mrs Holt, Mrs Cheney, Mrs Chambers, Mrs Carsley and Mrs Smith-Phelps who helped organise this and supervise the children.
DANCE PERFORMANCES
Yesterday 3H, 4B, 5MK and 6L performed to the school and then to their parents/carers. I was not able to attend but had seen the dances in rehearsal. We hope you enjoyed watching you children dancing with confidence and enjoyment.
YEAR 3 FAMILIES’ BREAKFAST
Today, we held the first of our year group Families’ Breakfast with year 3 families coming in to have breakfast with their children. Thank you to the kitchen staff, Mr Stynes, Mrs Elwell, Mrs Cheney and Mrs Holt (yet again)! Plus, the year 3 staff who were able to join us.
YEAR 6 PARENTS’ EVENING
Next week, year 6 teachers will be holding Parent/Teacher meetings in the hall. We hope you are able to attend as this is an important meeting just before the SATs in May. I look forward to seeing you in school.
Best wishes, Margaret
