Dear Parents/Carers

This has been an excellent week at Westfield Junior School! The children are working hard and have been so well behaved – a few still settling down and working out how much they can get away with – but generally everyone has had a great start to the school year.

Hopefully our new year three pupils, our new pupils in other years and our new staff will love their time at our school. Westfield pupils and staff are usually friendly and kind to newbies and are very welcoming. It is a big school building for children and takes a bit of getting used to, but we are very proud of our educational environment – we look after it well and we are always looking for ways to improve it.

NEW HOUSE CAPTAINS

One of the first things we do when we get back to school for the new academic year is vote for new House Captains. We have four Houses: Normans (green), Romans (red), Saxons (blue) and Vikings (yellow). House Captains have to be well liked and respected as they lead from the front and are role models for the younger children.

Our children chose wisely as all eight House Captains are excellent pupils. Congratulations to all eight pupils!

NORMANS Sophie Read George Knight

DPD LORRIES

ROMANS Izabel Cook Lucas Brown

SAXONS Grace Briggs Liam Knowles

VIKINGS Niamh McReynolds Farren Beynon

On Tuesday next week we are having a couple of very large trucks on the top playground so that all our children can find out about the dangers and risks of being near reversing trucks or being on their blind side whilst cycling on the roads.

DANCE LESSONS

Erika has begun dance lessons with her first group of children today. I am always amazed by the dance routines that Erika creates and how brilliant our children are at dance! There will be opportunities for parents and carers to come into school to see their children perform later in November.

Best wishes, Margaret Greig
