Dear Parents/Carers,

This week, we feel that the children have shaken off holiday mode; they are working hard and our teachers are pleased with their effort. This term is very long – 17 weeks - so we want to make sure that we can pace ourselves whilst making sure that the curriculum is covered.

As you can see on the front of the newsletter, we are needing to recruit two more Parent Governors. It is important to have parents on our Governing Body as we need to hear their views and they are able to tell us when we are getting things right and, at times, wrong! We have been very lucky in the past with our Parent Governors.

There are 6 Governor Meetings a year and they are all held on Wednesday evenings at 6pm. Governors are also expected to become members of sub- committees such as Finance and Staffing, Health and Safety or Teaching and Learning. If you have skills in any of these areas or know someone who may be interested please contact me through the school office for a chat – I can give you more details.

We had lorries from DPD at school on Tuesday. We are really grateful to DPD for explaining the dangers of playing near lorries or riding a bike near lorries on the road. All pupils were given a small gift – that’s a lot of small gifts – 385! Photos are on class dojo or on the website.

Yesterday, our Year 3 classes challenged each other to a 1066 style battle outside. Each pupil made a weapon, a shield or a helmet and there was much fun to be had. This was a great way to bring history alive – I think Mr Farrell enjoyed it more than the children!

The Hole in the Wall shop, where you can buy our school uniform, has had requests from parents to sell burgundy polo shirts instead of white as it gets grubby too quickly. The new burgundy shirts will be available very soon.

Best wishes, Margaret Greig
