Headteachers Blog 05/10/2018

Dear Parents/Carers,

On Tuesday we had a visitor at Westfield from our Teaching School who was most impressed by our pupils and staff – she thought we had a lovely, friendly, inviting school. We know this, but it is always good to hear it from another Head Teacher colleague.

JEANS FOR GENES DAY

A few weeks ago, we came to school in our jeans (dress down Friday!) and donated 50p to the Jeans for Genes Charity – we sent a cheque for £157.50 off today – thank you all for your generosity!

MACMILLAN CANCER COFFEE STOP

Not only that but we held a Coffee Stop last week on Friday in aid of the MacMillan Cancer charity where we made £252! Another cheque has been sent off from Westfield Junior School to this very worthy cause. Thank you again to everyone who bought cakes and contributed to our fabulous total.

YEAR 3 WARWICK CASTLE TRIP

This week it was the turn of our Year Three pupils to visit Warwick Castle. Mr Farrell, who is the Head of Year Three, reported that our Westfield Junior School pupils were so well behaved and full of curiosity. He would also like to thank the four parent volunteers who gave up their time to accompany the staff and pupils: Mrs Bocock, Mrs Parnell, Mrs Simmons and Mrs Clarke – we hope they had an enjoyable time too!

YEAR 6 FAMILY BREAKFAST

Today, we held Family Breakfast for Year Six. It was great to see so many family members joining us for breakfast – 90 at the last count! Mr Lambert cannot believe his luck- a full English with toast before work!

PARENTS’ EVENING

Next week, we hope to see lots of you in school when you come to speak to your child’s class teacher. Remember that year Five Teachers will be in the hall – not in their classrooms in the Year Five block. Please come into school via the door at the hall end of the building, not reception. This is an excellent chance for you to find out how your child has settled into their new year group and class and meet their new teacher.

Best wishes,

Mrs M Greig
